About the podcast

Exploring everyday healing from Japan.

The Iyashi Podcast is a bilateral knowledge-exchange series produced through a formal collaboration between Sorabird Co (UK), Rocklit LLC (Japan) and Zensō (Japan), examining Japanese healing traditions and what they offer audiences in both countries.

How it began

Three separate paths, one shared calling.

By the time Sellisha met Lana and Nanako, all three were already building wellbeing-focused businesses of their own. She had found her own direction, bringing inclusive wellbeing into her DEI practice, and had felt drawn to the power of Japanese traditional wellbeing since attending a Buddhist yoga retreat.

That pull deepened at Rocklit's Daruma Vision™ retreat, run by Lana and Nanako. During a sound bath within the retreat program, Sellisha had a vision that still guides her today. She left knowing this was bigger than any one of their businesses alone: three separate practices, all reaching for the same roots.

She reached out. Lana and Nanako said yes. The Iyashi Podcast began.

A literal vision at Daruma Vision™ led us here.
Three lenses, one exchange

Not a single perspective, but a conversation.

Each co-host examines iyashi through a different lens: Sellisha through inclusive wellbeing, Lana through emotional and spiritual intelligence, and Nanako through somatic impact. The exchange runs in both directions. Japanese practices are contextualised for UK audiences, while the frameworks the co-hosts bring offer Japanese practitioners a new way of examining their own traditions.

For UK audiences, this offers something the mainstream wellness landscape rarely does: a practitioner-led, critically informed introduction to Japanese healing that speaks to the full diversity of the UK public, including diaspora communities for whom wellness content rarely feels designed.

Format

How the series is built

Episodes are released on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube. Every episode is in English, with Japanese-language companion content from Lana and Nanako.

The conversations. Three practitioners, three lenses, one theme. We dig into what a practice means, where it comes from, and what you can take into an ordinary week.

The field immersions. We leave the conversation behind and go to the source, spending time at a place where the practice is lived, and bringing you with us.

Looking further

Beyond the mainstream narrative.

Rather than presenting Japanese traditions as aspirational lifestyle content, the podcast actively explores how they intersect with gender, identity and social inclusion. Future series will extend this lens to communities minoritised within Japan itself, including the Ainu of Hokkaido and Okinawan healing traditions, whose practices are rarely centred in UK–Japan cultural exchange.
